Dear Friends,

For over 55 years, Glendale’s civic, business, and religious communities have gathered each year in a prayer breakfast to give thanks for our community through music, prayer, and the spoken word.  This has allowed those attending to express gratitude, celebrate our community, and be enriched.

This year we invite you to join us in this grand tradition.  The Glendale Give Thanks Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, November 7th, at the Glendale Civic Auditorium, with breakfast at 7:00 am and the program at 7:30 am.  All are welcome.  You may purchase tickets online, whether individually or in groups, as highlighted below in the “Tickets & Sponsorship Options” section.

Our featured speaker will be Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.  Music will be provided by the Hoover High School Orchestra, and prayers will be provided by various Glendale religious leaders.

Please share the news of this great event with your friends and colleagues, and invite them to join us at this wonderful event.

We look forward to seeing you on November 7th.

Featured Speaker

Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.

His eminence, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, has served as Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church since 2003.  Over the past 16 years, the Archbishop has overseen the establishment and expansion of congregations in the metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, Portland, Sacramento, Phoenix and Las Vegas.  He oversaw the construction and completion of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral in Burbank, the spiritual center of the Western Diocese, culminating in its dedication in 2010.  Prior to his current office, Archbishop Derderian served as Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Canada from 1990-2003.

The Archbishop is passionate about ministering to the youth of the church.  Over the years, he has worked to bring in younger generations of diocesan staff and priests. New education centers and a television program were established under his leadership.  He has strengthened the work of the Armenian Church Youth Organization in Canada and United States and spearheaded efforts for a worldwide gathering of the Armenian Church Youth Organization in Echmiadzin, Lebanon in 2008.

He has received much recognition for his work within the church and broader society, including awards from Oxford University, Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia, and the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations.
